Green - Jay Lake Almost like reading two books in one. The story from the first half was completely different from the second half in its pacing, tone, setting, and feel. There were no gods in the first half at all, then suddenly, in the second half they actually have some effect on the world. Their boundaries and abilities were somewhat vague. Also Green's character was somewhat undefined. The magic that saved them at the end didn't exactly come out of no where, but I can't say anything else for fear of spoiling it for you. Hoping to read more by Jay Lake later, but not in this series.
