This is a great YA novel. It's set in future Earth after the ability to read minds has spread through the culture and changed everything. Much of the beginning takes place in school, which is a bit different... teachers do mental demonstrations, classrooms are completely silent, and kids avoid touching each other for fear of giving offense with an exchange even more intimate than mind reading. The plot quickly spirals into the unexpected, and never stays in one place too long. The ending wraps up rather quickly, but it's good that there's a resolution even though this is just the first in a series.
